Free QR code generators that don’t expire, compared
Every generator below makes free static codes that never expire. The difference is in their free dynamic codes, and what happens to those later. Checked in October 2026 on each company’s own pages.
What “never expires” means
A static code holds your link in its pattern, so no company can switch it off: it works as long as your link does, whoever made it. What runs out is the free part of a dynamic code, the kind whose short link forwards to yours. Trials end, scan caps fill up, and the printed code stops working. The static vs dynamic guide explains the difference.
Side by side
| Free static codes | Free dynamic codes | |
|---|---|---|
| QRPine | Unlimited, no signup, no watermark | None. Free to make and test; live for $4 a month or $36 a year, unlimited, and they keep working if you cancel |
| QR Code Generator PRO | Made during the trial, they keep working after it | A 14-day trial. Then dynamic codes are deactivated and scans reach a service page until you subscribe |
| QRCode Monkey | Free, “work forever”, no scan limit | None. Editing and tracking lead to QR Code Generator PRO |
| QR TIGER | Unlimited, no expiry, no scan limit | 3 codes with 500 scans each; at 500 the code stops working. Scans show a QR TIGER logo pop-up |
| Canva | Never expire, no Canva logo | Included, with the Canva logo by default. Scan analytics only on business plans |
| Adobe Express | Never expire | None, and no scan counts |
Which one to use
- For a link that will not change, any of them makes a code that lasts. Pick the one whose download suits your printer: an SVG for a print shop, a large PNG for Word or Canva.
- For a Wi-Fi network or a contact, use a static code: the details are written into it, so it keeps working with no account behind it.
- For a link you may need to change, you need a dynamic code, and the free ones above all come with an end: a trial, a scan cap or a logo. Before printing one, find out what happens when it ends.
Already printed a code that stopped?
Scan it and read the link your camera shows. If it starts with the generator’s address, the generator switched it off, and only it can switch it back on. Why a QR code stops working goes through that and the five other causes.
